I wasn't even sure HOW to title this post ... *chuckles*
Many of us go about our day-to-day lives with out others being any the wiser as regards our personal beliefs ; we "hide in the open", so to speak.
Now, there are times that find us having to just "hang out" , or wait ... as happened to me and my family at a very popular restaurant last Summer. There was a lil outdoor garden/mini park set up beside the restaurant parking lot -- a few cement benches, a few planter pots, and some round river stones atop the soil , creating an almost Japanese-garden aura to the area.
It was actuallly kinda pretty, and it drew all of us , we had to wait to be seated inside the restaurant.
And what did this ol' girl happen to find, looking at the rounded river stones beneath her feet ? A "SNOWFLAKE" HOLEY STONE.
Now, Holey stones have a lore alllll their own --- and in the Italian traditions, it's an incredible find of good luck and fortune. Add in the snowflake pattern on it --- and what I found is truly unique and not likely something I'll ever find again.
But that's an example of one thing you can do to keep yourself occupied when out and about and having to wait or whatever --- pay attention to your surroundings . I'm BRUTAL at the beach, I'm looking for shells, stones ... ...
I was out for a walk in a park - lot beside my nephews school , waiting for the bell to ring so I could retrieve him .... a deadfall in there tweaked me, for some reason --- it was almost magnetic, I had to take a closer look .... and lo, in the dead fall was a piece of silver birch that was to become my staff (it's been stripped, carved, inset with gemstones , varnished and laquered .... yes, I did it myself ). It was very similar with my wand -- another walk, at a local GOLF COURSE !!!
Frequently, potted plants have lava stone atop the soil , for decoration and esthetics ... ya well, that's the MOST likely place to FIND a holey stone --- cause I found a second one , not a year later, and it's lava rock. I'll be in the doctors office waiting "my turn", and be staring at the base of a plant on a table--- there's lava rock in the planter, my eyes are seeking something most don't see.
I guess my point is that we have the opportunity, each day, to find the things we "need" (or is that they find us ?) to practice our beliefs with ... all it takes is staying open and keeping a sharp eye .
Feeling kinda punky ? ah - go touch a tree, and let it energize you ... seriously --- oak in particular is great for giving ya a shot in the pants.
C'mon, gang --- kick in ... share some of the things YOU do that do not garner the notice of others but let you practice your Path "out in the open".
